Student Morning Routine

In today’s blog, I have decided it would be fun to share my typical morning routine as a student, from dragging myself out of bed to commuting to campus! I’m currently studying in my second year of  university and this blog will demonstrate what works for me and how I motivate myself for the day.

I have been extremely lucky this semester as none of my classes are early, which means I get to miss all of the busy 9am traffic on the way to Belfast as I drive to campus. Therefore, I reluctantly wake up to the sound of my alarm and make my bed for the day, knowing I will be coming back later in the day to ruin it by having my afternoon nap - an essential as a university student!

Once I’m up out of bed, I sit at my makeup table and I carry out my skincare routine, to give me that morning glow - which I definitely do not wake up with, considering I am NOT a morning person. I use my No7 Good Intent products to give my skin that glass, dewy look and moisturise my lips to ensure that they stay hydrated. I then give my hair a quick straighten and then my least favourite part of my morning - I try to pick an outfit. I try to opt for comfortable, but trendy options such as a matching tracksuit and trainers, or leggings and an oversized hoodie as comfort is key.

I head straight downstairs to the kitchen and decide what I would like to eat for breakfast, to help fuel me for the day ahead. A typical choice of mine would be a mix of granola, yoghurt and my favourite mix of berries, with an iced matcha to wash it down of course! During this I will have a quick scroll on social media whilst having my current Netflix show playing, this month’s being Gossip Girl, as it is an autumn MUST.

Lastly, I will clean my teeth and quickly do a bag check, (I like to pack my bag the night before, however sometimes I can be very forgetful). I fill up my Stanley water bottle and grab my car keys and I’m out the door. Once I get in my car, I will queue all of my favourite songs from my Spotify playlist and go pick up my friend (we do the same degree so commuting is never boring when we’re together). We arrive to campus around thirty minutes later, and of you’re a uni student you will know that trying to find a parking space is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Once we have finally found ourselves a parking spot for the day, we walk to our first lecture of the day and meet our friends.

I cannot say every morning goes as smoothly as this sounds, due to myself hitting snooze one too many times or my outfit not going to plan. However, having this routine allows me to have control over my morning and helps me to feel positive about the day ahead.
